Additional responsibilities will also include securing industry guests for student colloquiums and media and alumni/donor outreach. A reduced course will be negotiated.

Created over fifty years ago, the Film Conservatory at Purchase College is an intensive BFA program requiring a high level of commitment from students. After a rigorous interview process, less than 1 in 6 applicants are selected, beginning a four-year program in which students work closely with professors in small workshops; an intense immersion in production, screenwriting, editing, cinematography, and cinema studies. Each spring semester ends with each student presenting their work before the faculty, at which time it is determined if they will advance to the next year. The conservatory prides itself in fostering uniquely creative voices and graduates have been recognized with Emmys, Oscars, and awards at major film festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes and Toronto.

Located 25 miles north of New York City, Purchase College houses a unique combination of Liberal Arts and Sciences majors and Arts Conservatory programs. The campus has a four-theatre performing arts complex, which is the major professional, non-profit arts presenter in the Southeastern New York/Southwestern Connecticut region. A state-of-the-art Center for Media, Film and Theater building opened in the fall of 2019.

To apply for this position, go to and complete an online application. Attach the following documents by February 1, 2020: (1) cover letter describing strengths relative to the responsibilities and qualifications cited above; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) Two or more examples of professional work, for example, screenplays and/or links to films; (4) Student evaluations or other proof of teaching ability; (5) A one page statement of teaching philosophy; (6) sample syllabi; (7) a list of three references.
